Peer Interview for Fellowship

The role of a Fellow is to represent the Institute in working life, in such a manner as to create respect for the Institute and its work.

In February 2005 amendments to the Bye Laws came into force, which separated the membership grade of Fellow from the qualification of Chartered Arbitrator and included the requirement for a Peer Interview for Fellowship.

Who is eligible for Fellowship?

  • Members who have passed (or been exempt) the Part III Examinations, including Award Writing;
  • Members who have passed the Fast Track Programme, including Award Writing

Objective of the Interview

To enable the candidate to demonstrate an:

  • Understanding and appreciation of the workings of the CIArb and, where relevant, the Branch and of how the new Fellow can contribute.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the objectives of the CIArb and where relevant, the Branch.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the CIArb’s Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct and its application.

Programme

A forum debate of about 40 minutes including a presentation on:

  • The workings of the CIArb and its Branches;
  • The CIArb’s objectives, the Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct and its application.

The Peer Interview will be an informal discussion, following the debate, conducted by an experienced Fellow of the CIArb who will recommend whether the applicant should be accepted as a Fellow.

Venue and Cost

Subject to demand, the Peer Interview will be provided in all Branch areas. To register your interest, please complete the Registration Form. It is expected that a nominal charge will be made for interview to contribute to the cost of the event.
